Connie was born in Richlands, Va., a small coal mining town west of Roanoke. She and her parents moved to Miami, Fla., when she was six months old and lived there for nine years, then returned to Richlands to be closer to extended family. The Lord saved Connie when she was 16 years old. After graduating from high school, she felt that God was calling her to be more equipped in His word, so she attended a one-year Bible school in Cleveland, Tenn. After finishing school she moved back to serve the church and her family.

In 1985 Connie moved to Northern Virginia to help her sister with her wedding, and decided to stay. In 1988 she married Bob Getz, who passed away in 1994. Connie and her son, Robby, started attending Solid Rock Church, a Sovereign Grace Ministries congregation in Prince Georges County, Md., where she worked as a volunteer in the office and then was hired as a part-time administrative assistant.

She worked at the church for three years, and in 2004 God called her to move to Roanoke to be closer to her parents and part of Sovereign Grace Community Church. In 2008 Connie started working as the secretary at SGCC, and is thankful and amazed at God’s unending mercy and grace toward her and her son.
